Semi-retired single dad with full custody of my teenage son and caretaking duties for my elderly mom ... I'm a special ed teacher by day, writer / artist / self-taught guitar player (who sounds like it) by night ...
My current battles are with (among others) MS and diabetes -- "invisible" illnesses that baffle friends, family and coworkers alike ... "Gee, you don't LOOK disabled" ... *sigh*
It's a curious thing, having disabilities --- I've likened it to being a pumpkin handed to someone on Nov. 1st, it's like, "Thanks but no thanks, I could've used it a while ago, I guess, but now it's just gonna sit on the porch and rot ..."
Well, f*** that noise, I ain't dead yet. I manage my stuff well, I keep as active as I can in accordance with the general use-it-or-lose-it principle, I care for my mom and my son, I cook like a maniac with constant music and stand-up comedy as my soundtracks
I'm looking for someone who gets it --- who understands the journey, who fights the unseen wars and overcomes the never-ending challenges with optimism, humor and honesty. I'm all about intelligence and thoughtfulness, sharp wit, and genuineness. Must love dogs, Pink Floyd and the pleasures of international cuisines ... Bonus points for any of these passions: UConn basketball, tacos, Dope Lemon, tattoos, and Goldens.
